Iraq

Barack Obama has expressed his views on the current war in Iraq, and his challenges to the decisions of the Bush Administration. He did not support the idea of going to Iraq, declaring that the solution to Iraq does not lie in the hands of the U.S. military, but within the political struggles of Iraq. Obama supports the troops and says they have done a tremendous job, and he wants to start pulling them away. On January 30, 2007, Obama introduced the "Iraq War De-Escalation Act of 2007" to Congress. This act has the goal of eventually removing all U.S. combat troops by March 31,2008.

Health Care

Barack Obama has a very positive stance towards health care. He believes that all families should be able to afford proper health care, and it should be reserved for just the "privileged." He wishes for universal healthcare, and strongly supports Medicare and Medicaid.

Immigration

Obama is concerned with illegal immigration, and wants to address this issue in a compassionate way. He does not want to deport all of the working immigrants, but he does want to bring these immigrants out of hiding, and bring justice to them without being extremely harsh. Obama was a player in the immigration reform bill that was passed and supported by George W. Bush. This bill increased border control and helped reduce the amount of employers hiring illegal immigrants.

Education

Obama believes in creating a strong education for all of our youth. He wants to expand upon the strongest programs, and wants to educate children on the global economy. He notices the education implemented in countries like China and India, that place a strong emphasis on science, math, and technology.

Taxes

Obama wants to fight to improve tax conditions for mainly middle and lower class families. He has co-sponsored the Working Family Child Assistance Act, which adjusts the income requirement on a portion of the Child Tax Credit. He also created an amendment to bring relief to low-income families that were hit by the natural disasters in the Gulf Coast.

Abortion

Obama views abortion as wrong from his religious aspect, but he does not use that argument as his only basis. He believes that women have their own choice in what they want to do, and they face the consequences of their actions.
